What Is It Like to Work at Schildberg Construction?

Dick Vanatta

At Schildberg Construction Company, we value our employees and show our appreciation with competitive pay and great benefits, including insurance and comprehensive retirement plans. See what Dick Vanatta, an employee for over 50 years, has to say about working at Schildberg Construction Company.

Including predecessor companies, Dick has worked at Schildberg Construction Company since 1966. He has held several different positions within the company and currently serves as an aglime salesman and also scales and loads trucks at the quarries during the off-season.

I’m happy to be going to work at five in the morning. I enjoy running the scales and loaders in the summer, and I get to meet and visit a lot of different people. The Company has treated me well with good insurance and good benefits for retirement. I’m not one that likes to change jobs. Other people have retired and have done really well. As long as I enjoy what I’m doing, I’m going to keep doing it.”

— Dick Vanatta

Andrew Binau

Andrew has worked at Schildberg Construction Company for eight years, serving in a variety of roles.

I made my way through the ranks. I started as a truck driver and was then promoted to lab technician. Then, I worked as a driller and am now a superintendent. I like the work environment at Schildberg Construction. I like to be outdoors, and I enjoy being busy. It’s rewarding work, and I have great co-workers.”

Cory Leslie

Cory has worked at Schildberg Construction Company for eight years, starting as a truck driver. He was later promoted to driller and is now a mechanic.

I’ve learned a lot working at Schildberg Construction. I love the hours, and I’ve been able to support my family. Since being promoted, I’ve been able to drive a mechanic’s truck between home and work.”

Roger Sennett

Roger has worked at Schildberg Construction Company for over 48 years, from his first day on the job on April 16, 1973 to his retirement on Feb. 4, 2022. Throughout that time, Roger has worked as a quarry truck driver. He operated a bulldozer and loader off and on and also worked as a plantman for 20 years.

I was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve when I was hired, and I was always supported in that. I retired from the Army Reserve after 25 years, and I never expected I would stay at one job that long. I’ve enjoyed working at Schildberg Construction because it’s family-oriented. They took care of my family when I went to war in Operations Desert Shield and Storm.”
